Q2. How does
your media product represent particular social group?
Ans. My
start credits are based on two characters Arham and his mother who belong to a
high class society. However this cannot be shown by the surrounding as it is a
market but the character codes of the mother are set according to her class;
she is wearing branded glasses, has a bag in her hand and is carrying it the
way women in high society do and has nicely ironed clothes which indicates she
came in a car and not a rikshaw or taxi.
Although she has minimal jewelry but even in that she’s wearing pearls
and a branded watch.
Coming to
Arham’s character we haven’t given him such attributes as he is in a plain
T-shirt and shorts with normal flip flops. However his character development
shows that he is unfamiliar to this market and is getting agitated by the
events taking place.
This is usually the case with many
teenagers of this class who have not and do not wish to visit such places. As
you can see expensive cars in the background this indicates other high society
people come to this market too most probably the women because the market
comprises of food items like vegetable, raw meat and sea food. Such markets
have been modernized nowadays for example the Sunday Bazar due to the people
who come there.
The age
group present is teenage and forty and above, art films are usually not watched
by teenagers but seeing that the main subject of my film is a teenage boy may
attract many teenagers towards my film. My cast is South Asian due to two
reason that are; my institution is Bollywood and because we live in South Asia.
