Q1. In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge terms and conventions of real media products?
Ans. The genre of my film is an art movie and the
films I chose as a reference are ‘Run Lola Run’, ‘Dhobi Ghat’ and ‘ Ramchand
Pakistani’. These three films represent three different institutions however
the institution I chose for my product is Bollywood. Parallel cinema, commonly
known as art films, is realistic and addresses a social issue. It is aimed to a
niche market; the elements of art films are social realism style and a focus on
thoughts and dreams of a character. The film makers are usually called auteur
as they want their product to be perfect and realistic.

This scene in the film represents the social class of this
family which ramchand belongs to. However in my film this representation is
shown by the mothers attire starting from the way she holds her bag to her
jewelery. The hegemony may be stressed on the mother’s character as it is more
dominating and plays an important role in forming Arham’s character.
